Kumoya Snoopy Pop-Up Cafe - Singapore
Posted by SNPY ONLY on
To kick off the Peanuts Travel Journal blog, I decided to visit the Kumoya Snoopy Pop-Up Cafe located in Singapore first. This pop-up cafe opened on June 13 2019 and will be open until September 2019. As you walk up to the store, you will immediately see the iconic red dog house outside of the entrance.
Before taking a step inside the store, you can already tell that the store is filled to the brim with Peanuts-themed design and decor. I visited the cafe on a Tuesday at about 5 in the afternoon. As you can see, the store already had a lot of customers! Seeing how there were stools lined up outside of the cafe, I’d imagine the place to be crowded on the weekends.
This being the Peanuts-themed cafe, you can bet that almost every item on the menu will come with some Peanuts designs! In the “Snoopy Special Snacks” section, we can see several types of fried dishes. You can see they put a lot of work into incorporating the Snoopy design into the main courses. Since the Snoopy’s Doghouse Fantasy Ebi Burger looked delicious, I had to get that! The cafe also offers various types of desserts and drinks, each with its own creative combination of awesome sweetness! (If you order certain items, you will get a free gift.) Right click on the image and open image in a new tab to see larger photos.
After ordering food, it was time to check out the cafe! You can spot Snoopy in almost every imaginable spot within the store and THAT is a good thing for every Peanuts fan out there. There were also some Peanuts merchandise, such as dolls and building blocks, available for purchase.
Food was served shortly after ordering. The burger actually came inside the Snoopy Dog House! Quite the presentation! Different from traditional beef burgers, the burger they serve here actually has a fried prawn fillet. (Ebi means shrimp in Japanese.) And instead of the regular burger buns, they used the bun commonly used for the Chinese Pork Belly Bun. Definitely an interesting twist! The Woodstock-shaped-cheddar and the bone-shaped-carrots in the salad definitely added a nice touch. Even though the portion was not that big, I had to save some space for the desserts, right?
The Snoopy Matcha Lava Cake was definitely something to behold. It had the matcha (Japanese green tea) lava cake, cream, Japanese rice dumplings, red beans, Woodstock cookie, Snoopy macaron, and cotton candy! Where do I even start? It was definitely hard to stick the spoon into something that looked so beautiful.
On to the last item I ordered! After that deliciously rich dessert, I wanted something refreshing and on the lighter side. I ordered the Snoopy Iced Lychee Momo Tea and it did not disappoint. Even though the menu indicated that it comes with a donut, it tasted more like a dense cake, in terms of texture. If you did not want to go all out ordering a dessert and a drink, ordering this drink alone will suffice.
Impression
This was quite the Peanuts experience and I expected nothing less! From the moment I stepped into the cafe to the last bite of the Woodstock donut, everything was filled with Snoopy. I recognize that other than Snoopy and Woodstock, the rest of the Peanuts Gang do not make an appearance and that may make the experience a bit less complete. However, I do think this will be a worthwhile visit for any Peanuts fans. If you live in Singapore or plan to visit Singapore in the near future, you should definitely pay it a visit! It will be open until September 2019.
